MUSIC LESSONS IN LEEUWARDEN: PRODUCTION, GUITAR OR DRUMS?
Want to learn an instrument, take your skills to the next level or finally make your own music? At Foltaazje in Leeuwarden you take lessons in a professional studio, from teachers who are active musicians themselves. In this post we lay out the options, so you can choose what suits you.
Why take lessons in a studio?
Lessons in a studio are different from a rehearsal room or classroom. You work with good equipment, in rooms with great acoustics, and you see how music is made and recorded in practice. For many students that’s exactly the motivation they need: you’re not just practising, you’re making music.
Music production
Want to learn how to make, mix and finish your own tracks? There are two routes, both with Mark:
- Private coaching (Monday, 15:00–18:00): one-on-one in the studio. You decide the focus, whether that’s your first steps in Ableton Live or finishing an EP.
- Studio group course (Monday, 19:00–21:30): work on your own music together with other producers, with feedback from Mark and from each other.
Not sure whether producing is for you? Read our post on producing your first track first.
Guitar lessons
For guitar there are two teachers, each with their own background:
- Mart (Tuesday): for anyone who wants to take their playing to the next level, from chords to riffs and solos.
- Tessa (Thursday): a classical guitar teacher and a graduate of the Prins Claus Conservatorium.
Drum lessons
With Huub (Friday) you go all out on the drums. You learn to play songs and work on your rhythm, timing and technique, in a fully soundproof live room.
Guitar and drum lessons are by appointment, between 12:00 and 21:00.
Free for young people: LAB058
Aged between 13 and 21? Every Wednesday evening from 18:00 to 21:00 the LAB058 Music LAB takes place at Foltaazje: a free space to make music, produce and sing. No sign-up needed, just walk in. LAB058 is an initiative of Kunstkade.
