OMRIN: MUSIC FOR THE OPENING OF THE WORK LANDSCAPE OF THE FUTURE
For the opening of Omrin's Werklandschap van de Toekomst (Work Landscape of the Future), Foltaazje created the musical concept and filled in the opening. A special day: on 3 June 2026 we performed for Her Majesty Queen Máxima and all invited guests, together with Iris Kroes (vocals and harp) and a Frisian-speaking children's choir we put together ourselves.
The concept: the future belongs to the next generation
What kind of music fits the opening of a work landscape of the future? Our answer: give a voice to the generation that future is for. That is why a children's choir was at the heart of the opening.
The choir sang our own Frisian translation of We Are The World: Wy Ha De Wrald. A song about sharing responsibility for the world, in the language of the region, sung by the children who will inherit that world.
The performance
We put together a Frisian-speaking children's choir and rehearsed the song with the kids. Iris Kroes accompanied the choir on harp and vocals, supported by a backing track we composed and produced for the occasion. Live, it sounded intimate and at the same time big enough for an open-air audience.
The response
“I was in the building during the run-through in the morning and already got goosebumps. Later, for the real thing, it was even more beautiful. Amazing how music can evoke such emotion, especially when children are involved.”
— John Vernooij, managing director of Omrin (translated from Dutch)
